May 4th Letter

Hello Family!
You will NEVER guess where that quote is from! Anyone who can give me the right answer when I call on Sunday at 12:30 your time--did you get that? 12:30 YOUR TIME which means you have to get home from church REALLY fast!--will get a prize. Let's be honest though, it won't be something very exciting because I am in Argentina. I will be calling from either our cell phone or the phone from a member’s house at first and then I’ll give you the number to one of them so you can call it back. Sound good? So my new area...it's amazing. Really, it's amazingly goreous here because there are huge trees and mountains EVERYWHERE! AND I don't live next a main road so I sleep absolutely perfect at night! That is...when I don't have to go to the bathroom and that's a pain because we have 4 hermanas in our apartment and it's a lot smaller than the one in Rio Cuarto so in our room we have bunk beds. I have the top bunk. This morning at like 4 I had to go potty really bad. I got down from my bunk and walked towards the door. When I say walked towards the door, I mean my intentions were to exit through the door. When one has intentions to exit through a door, the door through which one wishes to exit needs to be open. This particular door through which I had desires to exit and relieve myself was closed and I ran right into it. I had to laugh a little at myself, but keep in mind it was early and I didn't remember until my comp and I were waiting in line for the ATM and I remembered and kind of started convulsing because I was laughing so hard. Moving on…the only down side to this new area is there are a TON of hills and we have to travel 20 minutes in a collectivo (bus) to our area and back every day. I’m going to love living in my area when it finally happens! The downside to collectivos is the driver will ALWAYS stop no matter how full the dadgum thing is. Last night there were about 50 or 60 people on it! It was insane. Thank you for your incredibly long e-mail mom! Really, I love when they’re so long! Anyone can feel free to write me long e-mails because I print them out and read them! Also, thank you Bishop Roberts for your e-mail and for all of your help with getting me on the mission. I’m so grateful for that. =) On our way to church yesterday, Hermana Brown and I talked to the driver of the bus all the way to church. He had a lot of questions about our religion. We explained the marriage thing...why we want to marry inside our religion and the apostasy and other things like that. It was way fun. I think Hermana Brown and I did really well. Looking for people is a pain in the butt. When we finally find someone, however, I LOVE to teach. I always gain more knowledge of the principle I’m teaching when I’m teaching it because the spirit gives me the words to say and the right questions to ask. That’s why the looking part is hard. It’s hard to feel the spirit when you get rejection after rejection in the noisy streets, pero vale la pena! =) Oh, Hermana Brown. She’s awesome. I love working with her. I know that both of us are going to grow a LOT this transfer because we came to Argentina together so we both only have 6 months in the mission. It will be tough. She can understand a lot more than I can, I can understand pretty much everything, but she understands more. The only thing is, we’re both gringas and so sometimes we have a hard time explaining certain things. All in time though. The president put us together for a reason. Hermana Brown is really easy to work with and she’s way fun to be around. Mom, don’t worry, I’ll be sending the little something I’m putting together for you guys soon. I just need to finish the letter that’s coming with it and it’s DONE! I’m pretty excited about it. There’s something in it for the girls and plenty of pictures. I’m excited to send it! Would you send me the recipe to one of your quiche’s? I was telling the hermanas I live with about them and I want to make one for them cuz they’re sooo tasty! Also, I’m still waiting on the baked pineapple recipe! I need to take this moment and say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Janae-April 30th, the big 19! WOOHOO! Emma-May 1st, the big 21! Last but not least Ashley-May 5th the big 21 too!!! WOOHOO!!! I hope you girls had the best birthdays ever! Please write me and tell me what’s going on in your lives! Thank you Linsey and Audrey for your letters! They were so fun to read! I will be writing letters to the both of you today (and Carly) and hopefully getting them sent off today as well. From Mom’s letter I read Linsey’s experience from prom and her rockin prom date. Caleb definitely won some brownie points with them! They were like, “does this boy have older brothers?” He sounds like a winner! Speaking of the hermanas I live with…one of them, Hermana Widmer, is freaking crazy! Saturday night she saw a cockroach, smashed it, picked it up, brought it in our apartment, taped it and is now in her suitcase. We almost died when she was messing with it trying to tape it. Oh my stars in heaven. Mom, I was thinking of you the whole time and kept thinking, my mom would never let you in our house. Sunday she got fed up with her bangs and tried to cut them herself. When I looked at them I said, “hermana, where are those scissors? Get over here and let me fix them.” I was able to make them presentable, but she cut them so unevenly it was hard to work with. She’s a funny girl…a funny funny girl. Anyway family, I’m doing very well and I have been learning a lot about myself these past couple weeks. I have a lot of proof every day that my heavenly father loves me and His children. We meet so many people that are so horribly lost in this world. It’s so sad to see, and they don’t accept these beautiful principles to make their lives better. If not today, some day. I love it here in Villa Independencia and I love being a missionary. Have an awesome week and I’ll talk to you soon!
All my love,Hermana Cara
P.S. I’ll be able to talk to Kaden right? I was dying laughing at the story about when Carly was trying to teach him how to say his name! I want to talk to him so bad!
